70% sangiovese, 30% merlot.
This wine, made exclusively in the best years, is aged in French barriques and tonneaux (900 litre casks) for 12 months. It is then bottle-aged for a further 6 months. The addition of merlot allows for the production of a more well-rounded and less austere wine than the Sangiovese. It has a varied nose, with hints of red berries making way for more mellow notes. This wine is also suitable for laying down.
